Description
Mobile ramps (yard ramps) and loading docks
Warehouses without a fixed ramp are equipped with mobile loading docks to make loading and unloading easier. METALLFORS LLC will fabricate mobile loading docks, ramps and parking mechanisms to a standard design or to custom dimensions provided by the customer. Our equipment range includes standard ramps for loading and moving operations and for vehicle-related technological and repair processes. We work in Moscow and throughout Russia.

Mobile ramp design
A typical mobile loading dock consists of several main units:
- lip — a hinged bridge plate between the ramp and the truck being unloaded;
- wheelbase — one or more pairs of wheels depending on the size and weight of the ramp;
- lifting mechanism — a jack (pneumatic or hydraulic) that changes the ramp angle;
- towing system — for moving the ramp from the warehouse by a vehicle with a suitable tow hitch;
- frame — a welded structure covered with expanded metal.
By design, all ramps are divided into two types:
- service ramps — a large flat platform is added to the inclined ramp for forklift maneuvering outside the warehouse. They have one, two or three lips facing different directions, allowing several vehicles to be served at once;
- connecting ramps — the bridge has only an inclined ramp along which the forklift drives into the truck body or onto the warehouse platform.
A ramp without a lip (horizontal bridge plate) is suitable only for front loading and unloading. A ramp with three lips on all three sides of the platform is a three-sided ramp. Load capacity depends on the load carried by the forklift.

How a mobile ramp works
Moving the mobile dock, raising the platform and unloading are all done by a single operator, which significantly saves labor and optimizes the workflow.
Mobile dock operating steps:
- the forklift drives up to the loading dock, lifts its end and moves it into position on a rigid coupling;
- using the hydraulic or pneumatic lifting system, the operator raises the ramp and aligns it with the edge of the truck body or rail freight car;
- the ramp is securely fixed with the locking system;
- the forklift starts loading or unloading.
