Steel reservoirs

Horizontal and vertical steel tanks are used in all industries. METALLFORS LLC offers steel tanks for any production. We design, fabricate and install products made of prepared high-quality steel with an anti-corrosion coating, allowing the tanks to be used in any way over a long service life. Our products are used in the food, chemical, gas, oil production and refining industries.

Steel tanks are used to store, transport and process — under pressure or without — bulk and liquid products of varying aggressiveness, viscosity and volatility:

• liquid food products (water, semi-finished and finished products);
• crude oil and petroleum products (oil, gasoline, diesel, fuel oil);
• liquefied gas;
• liquid chemicals (alcohols, alkalis, acids, acetone, liquid concentrated fertilizers);
• hopper tanks (bins, silos) for flour, grain, fertilizers, cement, sand, lime;

Types of steel tanks

Stainless steel tanks are made for above-ground and underground installation depending on their purpose. The main difference is orientation — vertical or horizontal.

Classified by function:

• long-term storage — filling, draining and long-term storage of liquid without loss of quality;
• continuous mixing — in chemical, mining and food production to keep a solution uniform or accelerate reactions;
• settling tank — removal of solid impurities from liquid by settling or flotation;
• transportation;
• continuous process operations.

If required, an industrial steel tank can also be designed to keep its contents hot or cold regardless of ambient temperature. Petroleum producers prefer heated steel tanks, while liquefied gas producers need cooled tanks. Steel grades used: St3sp, 09G2S, 12Kh18N10T.

Horizontal tanks

Cylindrical tanks for water and other products have conical, flat or rounded bottoms made of quality materials. They are installed above ground, underground or on a transport platform, and used at filling stations, in the food, chemical and refining industries, in agriculture and for fire water reserves.

Depending on the purpose, horizontal tanks (RGS) are:

• single-walled;
• double-walled — the space between the walls is filled with nitrogen or antifreeze for leak monitoring;
• single-compartment;
• multi-compartment — vessels for different liquids;
• heated;
• insulated.

The inner walls are treated with an anti-corrosion compound and a coating that depends on the stored product. Filters are used in the inlet nozzles.

Vertical tanks

Vertical cylindrical steel tanks hold large volumes of product, and stationary storage significantly saves space at the facility. Vertical above-ground tanks are used across industries:

• chemical — production, processing and storage of ethyl and methyl alcohol, sulfuric, hydrochloric and phosphoric acid, hydrogen, argon, ammonia and other liquids and gases;
• oil refining — production, processing and storage of light (gasoline, kerosene, diesel) and dark (bitumen, fuel oil) petroleum products;
• food — storage, production, pasteurization, sterilization and separation of various liquid and viscous products;
• agriculture — bins and silos for storing and processing agricultural produce and fertilizers; ordinary tanks are used as water towers, hot water storage, and for process and drinking water.

Sealed roofs come in three types:

• fixed on supports;
• fixed with an internal pontoon;
• floating.

Custom steel tank fabrication

Stainless steel tank equipment (RVS, RGS) for oil and gas processing plants, mining and processing plants and food factories requires special attention. Our fabrication process is carefully controlled at every stage and meets all quality standards.

Production stages:

• after receiving a request for horizontal or vertical tanks, we develop the tank design and drawings (we ask the client to fill in a questionnaire so we know the exact scope and conditions);
• fabrication begins with acceptance of steel plates, which are checked by the quality control department. We then cut and weld the tank parts (plate or pipe), install additional equipment and apply internal and external coatings;
• full inspection includes expert review, leak testing and industrial testing. After all documents are completed and signed, the tanks are packed and shipped to the customer.

If installation is ordered, it includes site preparation, construction of supports, water supply and other work.
